Xbox x360key Central Methods Analysed

The x360Key can be a new product from the renowned Wiikey Team. Well-known for one of the most popular line of Wii modchips, they dominated the industry correct up until a device referred to as the WODE came out. The WODE has been an extremly effective item becuase its bassically a hardware hack that lets you run games from a harddrive, insteaed of your original disc. Rather than the Wiikey team bringing out the exact same product, they have been concentrating for over a year on performing the precise identical thing for the xbox 360, and here it's!

The x360Key is an Xbox 360 drive emulator. What this indicates, is that when you load a game through the x360key the xbox really thinks the game is loading through disc. The 360 thinks the drive is ejecting, a disc is getting inserted, the tray closes, the disc spins up, and then loads. Needless to say non of this really is actually happening, its all through emulation, and also the information is coming directly from your harddrive!

x360key consists of 2 parts, a motherboard as well as a remote. The motherboard connects towards the SATA bus inside the Xbox 360, and sits in between the drive as well as the Xbox 360 motherboard. x360key can be a full-fledged pc program running embedded Linux. It's capable of numerous points like: Emulating the Xbox 360 DVD drive, Reading USB tough drives along with other USB media with numerous file systems, Updating itself along with other hardware from USB media, Communicating using the remote and other external USB devices, embedded Web server and Wifi connectivity.

The remote is a simple however stylish piece of hardware that functions an OLED display and three buttons. It connects towards the x360key motherboard through a high speed USB2 connection. It also has USB for connecting USB difficult drives as well as other devices. The OLED and buttons are used to control various aspects of x360key. It's also utilized for browsing attached USB media devices and launching games.

The x360key team have carried out every little thing they are able to to make this device ready to install. Its a solderless installation! The issue with xbox 360 drives is that they're locked to the console they are in by way of a serial number. This means which you can not just swap DVD drives over without having initial obtaining the important out the original drive, and putting it inside the replacemetn drive. So you will must input for important into the x360key for it to properly emulate the drive. Now this would normally be a difficulty for many folks, as costly flashing tools are needed to extract the crucial from drives, for examble, the maximus lizard is 3 on our web site. The great news is that the x360key will likely be able to extract the important out of every compatible drive for you! This implies that you are within the installer and you've got the tools to do every little thing oneself.

Trying out the igaming device M3i Zero for DS in which homebrew enthusiasts have been dying for

Tool Firstappearance

This tremendous long awaited M3i Zero have landed. A card that have been gely|greatly|very|massively|widely|really|extremely|highly|enormously} wanted amongst the home brew world because of the feature set. But not only is the components full upgradeable via the kernel, boot flash and firmware, but the Operating system can handle the substantially trumpeted M3 Sakura. In the past just obtainable for the Japanese. Now interpreted for the european market.

This past February right after I was examining the M3 Real, I commented over the power of the hacked multiply loader Operating system. That gave the end consumer many options, enough to suit the several needs of any Ds home brew enthusiast. Now I am glad to find out these opinions have been taken on mother board by Crew M3. The M3i stands out as the initial available retail store card that works with a Double Boot system as standard. It's possible to swap between TouchPod and Sakura by just pushing down the A button on boot.

Nonetheless, enough with the blarney. Let's see what exactly is beneath the cover of the new M3i Zero.

What's Included in the Packaging.

Unit M3i Zero comes in a shiny dark blue retail box printed with the M3 logo and web page link. The back of the package explains the set of features of the card and even includes a pictorial portrayal of the contents of the package. The product packaging measurements, shape and over-all finish, is precisely like the older M3 Real.

The contents of the bundle are inside a standard clear plastic tray. These include as follows: The M3i Zero chip, and is located in a plastic case with enough space for a Micro sd card. This is very much like the cases you can get along with memory cards for example Kingston and Sandisk, a little USB 2.0 reader, designed with a bright white M3 logo design. Sadly the USB reader only shares the style of the Sandisk reader but not the quality. It is serviceable, but I would usually propose getting a decent "brand name" reader to be able to steer clear of the dastardly blight, known as data corruption.

The very last product within the box is the all important firmware power supply cord. It is really an amazing piece of kit. Nothing like the Supercard DSONEi system. The M3 crew now have gone for a very different form factor in regards to powering the flash card from USB. As opposed to the complete card being placed in a slot 1 adapter. They've gone for a much more streamlined yet still fragile layout. At one end of the power cord is a rigid ribbon cable, just like the types which links the Nintendo ds touchscreen to the mother board. This inserts in to the side of the M3i Zero card. Energizing the device during the flash procedure.

Construct class.

Tool M3i Zero is supplied in a black shell. The grade of plastic really feels on par with the Acekard 2. It isn't quite comparable to the earlier M3 Real build quality, that felt strong and quite heavy. The 2 parts of the casing are held together by a clip design and not the common sealed/tiny screws. You will find a noticeable IC bulge on the labeled side of the card. The label is a glossy blue/white layout having a yellow/white M3 Zero brand. The label has been placed straight on the card.

The card's "copper teeth" aren't shielded by the traditional raised fins. Their Printed circuit board is green-colored. The microSD slot is situated on the side of card. The spring features a fairly good action and click. The populated card slot is flush with the top of the shell. Placing the card in to my Dsi wasn't any concern. The IC bulge do not cause any issues by scraping the edges of my well worn slot 1.

Altogether, I felt pleased with the general manufacturing of the card. It's by no means crafted like a tank yet it is not garbage R4 clone territory.

Setting up.

M3i Zero ships as a blank card. Without any firmware. Here are the blurb from the nice M3 folks "M3 unit don't include any kind of copyright data and / or firmware program, although end users may update the program which will make M3i Zero end up being the most potent flash cart".

This is a very smart chunk of chicanery by the M3 guys. As I presume this can aid the card's transportation through a few countries over ardent customs inspections.

And so to get the beast up and running, we have to flash the card's firmware utilizing the included USB power cable. When you're beginning this sounded like a difficult endeavour for somebody as cack handed as me. The rigid ribbon cable end of the power lead looks fragile due to the wafer slender design and style. Yet alas my fears was allayed, because it was extremely easy to stick in the power cord on the side of the card. Pursuing the readme directions, I copied the newest system software to the root of my newly formatted memory card, with the firmware dat file. Then I connected the power cord to my Pc's USB hub. Without delay a red led began flashing inside the M3i Zero's card housing. Soon after 11-25 seconds, the led stopped so I unhooked all the various cable from the card. I hurriedly popped the card into my Dsi and fired the blighter up. Heya Voila! I was greeted by a M3 symbol on the menu screen. Nice! A nice pain-free set up.

I did the patented start the card without any Micro SD card test and the old remove a number of system files test. The M3i Zero surpassed with flying colours, expressing the proper error codes for every single try out.

Final result.

Team M3 appeared to have acted on my statements regarding the M3 Real and presented them in to the M3i Zero. They have delivered the superb Sakura Gui into western market. Not only this, they had additionally delivered very first official double boot system for any flash card. This boosts the strength of the unit by retaining excellent compatibility even though moving ahead with the Sakura codebase through application updates. To be able to upgrade the kernel, boot flash and firmware simply enhances the blend. This in turn raises the endurance of the chip.

I would say the M3i Zero offers the greatest range of options, both in hardware/software, available today for any homebrew fans. This particular card has become my current system of choice for the Nintendo dsi. This is the greatest recommendation I can give any Nintendo ds flash card. report reference: M3i Zero

Nintendo 3DS or Sony Next Generation Portable: Which One is Right for You?

The handheld gaming war will intensify when Nintendo and Sony release the next generation of their handheld gaming systems, the 3DS and Next Generation Portable, respectively. In this article I will look at the pertinent details of each system, so that you can decide which system will be best for you.

First, A Little History

Nintendo has dominated the handheld gaming world ever since the days of the first Gameboy. Sony made a big splash when their PlayStation Portable debuted in 2005, with impressive opening sales numbers. Even so, it could not hope to overtake the juggernaut that is the Nintendo DS and its multiple iterations. Sony did not do itself any favors with the ill-conceived PSP Go, a version of the PSP without a UMD drive. Even with this misstep, Sony has proven itself to be a major player in the handheld gaming market. They look to be upping the ante with the much more powerful PSP2, which is currently codenamed the Next Generation Portable. Meanwhile, Nintendo looks to hold their front running position with the cutting edge 3D capabilities of the 3DS.

Defining Features of the 3DS and NGP

The defining feature of the Nintendo 3DS is, of course, the ability to watch 3D movies, play 3D games, and take 3D pictures, all without the need for 3D glasses. It will be the cheapest and most accessible way to enjoy the current wave of 3D entertainment, which shows no signs of slowing down in popularity.

The NGP's defining features are its power and the dual analog sticks, which will appeal to more of the hardcore gamer demographic. It will allow developers to make games that look almost as good as the home consoles, along with the same ease of control afforded by the dual analog sticks that home console gamers have enjoyed for years.

Release Dates and Price

Nintendo will definitely have the advantage since the 3DS is coming out in March, and the NGP will not be released until the holiday season at the very earliest. Nintendo will also be the clear winner in affordability, as it will launch with a price of $250, and will most likely see a price drop when the NGP finally does release. There has been no announcement of the NGP's price, but anything under $299 looks to be a pipe dream with how much power it is packing.

The Bottom Line

While both companies have blurred the lines as to who their target markets are, in the end the Nintendo 3DS will appeal more to the mainstream market, while the Sony NGP will appeal more to the hardcore gamer crowd. Wherever you find yourself on the gamer spectrum will ultimately guide your decision as to which handheld gaming system is right for you.

Xbox 360 console XK3Y USB loader application

The X360Key is an Xbox 360 console USB loader device and is the 1st on the globe of its kind. It is produced by the exact same crew that brought us the WiiKey chips for the Nintendo wii. Considering all the conditions drive flashing has these days, We thinks that USB loading machine tools like the x360key could be the future for anyone about to securely store their own valuable original video games on an external hard disk travel for risk-free keeping and in addition fast loading. The x360key installs inside your Xbox or Xbox 360 Slim console and when mounted there is a elegant little external OLED remote that you just link your external USB storage units for you to and can then search through the game titles on your external USB storage area to then pick and load. Therefore no more are you going to get heaps of video game dvd disks laying around and all the games may be crammed from a USB harddrive effortlessly, there's certainly the enormous advantage that you'll no longer need to worry about games getting scratched or perhaps the kids dropping these people which we are all aware comes about more than we would like. Addititionally there is another upside you will no longer be using the gaming systems DVD drive as frequently therefore will extend the life span of the lazer inside your gaming console considerably.

The unit installation for your X360Key is gonna be a Solderless one, this is gonna be an excellent factor promptly are comfortable with using things apart however haven't stepped in to the next phase involving soldering which may be a huge stage even for those who are more comfortable with building PC’s for instance. There may be one downside at this time which is that you'll desire a copy of the push key that is found in the DVD drive of one's gaming system, to obtain the essential out of your DVD travel this usually needs special tools such as the Maximus Lizard, Xtraxtor 2 as well as CK3 PRO for instance, however as many people have already been flashing their hard disks with a custom firmware they generally have this tools and they are good along with retrieving the key away from their drives.

The particular crew is preparing to employ a function about so it can acquire the drive key for you to then install on the MicroSD memory supplied, but there's no date on when this operate is going to be applied. Aside from the key extraction your x360key install should be really hassle-free, there are many video clips online regarding how to take apart the gaming console and we are of the opinion the team will also have really thorough instructions around the procedure after the gadget is out in the wild.

People familiar with the particular Wode Jukebox for Nintendo wii gaming console the X360Key is pretty much along the same lines, it’s a new optical drive emulator, therefore the unit is able to copying the DVD travel inside your gaming console, every time enabled your gaming console will discover your external USB storage devices linked to the unit being the actual DVD push within your console communicating with the mother board. We have been really big followers of this technology below because it comes we believe with much less the process of standard flashing of the Xbox 360 DVD pushes which has a custom firmware. Exactly like the Wode Jukebox the X360Key is also jogging an internal Linux kernel to become capable of supply this particular optical drive emulation, so in many ways it's a tiny computer on its own. This can be a great thing because it means it will be equipped to deal with advanced up-dates to its core firmware and for whatever reason requires a pretty complex change to the way it operates a result of change in your Xbox 360 drive firmware or perhaps motherboard firmware that the folks will be able to develop the up-date for the devices O/S that may take care of the alterations.

Yet another huge feature which is scheduled to be added onto the X360Key with a long term firmware update after relieve is the capability to develop legitimate back federal express of your original online games on to your external USB hard drive units utilizing the Xbox 360 console themselves, yet again this is probably the most preferred features of the Wode Jukebox for Nintendo wii console and can of course be a huge feature for the X360Key too. They haven't furnished an ETA for this attribute being integrated to the firmware but we'd state it will likely be within a few months of its release. For the moment people may use the common way of making back ups of their original game titles by using a Kreon drive.

P3 Samurai Does What It Promises: Jailbreaks Your P3

Playstation 3 Slim by blogpokdotcom

It is real. More or less 4 years after its launch, the PlayStation 3's much vaunted security has finally been completely and unequivocally compromised. Within weeks, or even days, PS3 users ready to pay an exorbitant premium have the choice of copying each and every games they own - and any they don't - onto hard disk, and nothing stops them from spreading them over the internet. The question is, how does Sony fight back? Can new firmware updates keep the platform holder one step ahead of the hackers?

0

As sample "PS Samurai" hardware circulates around shops and modship suppliers around the world, further details emerge, giving us some prospect of how the system works. From that we can extrapolate the size of the task facing Sony because it embarks on what must surely be the biggest damage limitation exercise in its recent history. This attack on PStation security incorporates both software and hardware. A USB dongle is connected to the P3, and pressing the eject button on the console while it cold-boots causes the code on the stick to override the console's typical launch procedure. Based on views of the XMB noticed in the now numerous YouTube videos, the dongle appears to inject aspects of debug PS3 firmware onto the retail unit. The option to install PKG files, available only on development and test units, now works on the retail machine. From here, the key tool to "backing up" application is added onto the machine.

While you might not have heard of a PKG file before, the more likely you've installed a good amount of them on your Playstation 3. Almost every kind of program you download from PSN is in the PKG container. Once downloaded, the PS3 decompresses the comprehensive data and installs it onto your PS3. On development and test/reviewer units, so-called "unsigned code" is routinely distributed on disc, via download or on USB flash drives in PKG format. The only real difference between this and a regular PSN download is the fact that code isn't encrypted, permitting easier distribution of unfinished or review copy games (only Sony's mastering labs can encrypt, or "sign" code). Because the Install PKG option now appears on a retail unit gives us a strong indication as to how the new "Jailbreak" works as it's almost certainly not present in the standard firmware. It suggests that elements of the bespoke system updates used on the debug PS3s are being injected into the memory of the retail unit. But exactly how?

There's 2 potential explanations here. For starters, whoever is behind this is extremely clever and has isolated an exploit that enables for the injection of code over the USB port. Rather more likely is that the USB-based tools Sony uses to test and recover PS3s with corrupt firmware have been leaked and reverse-engineered for more nefarious ends. PlayStation 3s locked into "factory service mode" have been showing up every now and then for many years, and the PC-side software that runs the USB dongle was leaked a while ago.

DualShock by techweet

Now it appears that the hardware has also been "liberated" from Sony's repair and test labs. This may sound somewhat implausible, but in a world where PS3 Slim photos circulate months before the launch and final units can be found in a Philippines marketplace, anything may be possible. Besides, the exact same thing happened with the tools used to service the PSP just prior to the PSP-2000 launch in September 2007. In terms of the make-up of the dongle itself, pictures posted online of the internals show a simple USB device - what looks like an innocuous 48-pin microcontroller chip on the tiny PCB and not much else. It's quite astonishing to believe that the makers are requesting a colossal $130 for such a tiny piece of tech, and it's almost certain to be reverse-engineered, ripped off and duplicated by Chinese mass-suppliers within days of showing up in market.

The software side of PS Samurai is publicly available to download, installs onto a debug PS3 and throws up few surprises. It's an extremely basic tool that rips off each file on a game disc onto the internal HDD or else onto a Usb stick or harddrive. It does appear that part of the encryption Sony uses in the files is stripped away (hashes on encrypted files change drastically), however executable still won't work with no USB dongle in place. When selecting a game to run, the device drops back to the XMB. From now on, we can only speculate but it's reasonable to assume that the chip then diverts all major disc functions to the device where the game-rip lies. As a considerate vehicle for piracy then, all bases are covered, but is this really a "jailbreak" in the form recently sanctioned by US courts? The mere existence of the backup manager - supposedly coded with tools stolen from Sony - indicate otherwise, and if the USB dongle is indeed cloned from the platform holder's own recovery tools, any pretence of legality is surely a joke.

The inclusion of the PKG installation option does indeed mean that the likes of emulators and media players may very well be ported and installed on to the PS3. However, right now it's most likely the case that Sony's own dev tools will be required to make any type of useful application, adding to the legality quagmire. All told, it's a nightmare scenario for Sony - but you could be fairly sure that its response will likely be swift. We could fully expect a mandatory firmware update to emerge from its engineering labs within days of the firm dissecting the hack, doubtless making this useless. Damage limitation would be the key, and like the OtherOS removal that Geohot's exploit brought about, Sony will be looking to minimise the physical quantity of consoles available capable of running the hack by effectively upgrading them out of contention.

Assuming the memory patch theory is true, the swiftness of the response shouldn't be a worry for Sony's engineers. Changing the make-up of the modules affected will probably be child's play for the platform holder and it would probably necessitate a greater effort for the hackers to reverse-engineer the newest code and re-patch it. Additionally, on the longer term, there's nothing to prevent Sony from introducing completely new types of encryption and execution on the way that future games boot.

However, the properties of the USB dongle itself are probably much harder to defend against. Assuming that the product itself comes from Sony's own servicing tools, it may well call for a complete, brand-new revision of motherboard to successfully defeat. The whole purpose of the dongle is to restore corrupt firmware - the chances are it has to function on a hardware level that cannot be touched by the updater. We've seen it before on Sony kit - the so-called "Pandora" battery for PSP that flips it into service mode operates about the same principle, and was only defeated by the platform holder when it revised the handheld's motherboard. Nothing could possibly be performed to protect the existing devices.

Unless Sony is able of rewriting the most basic low-level code relating to the PS3's BIOS, there's little it can do today to defeat the USB vector of attack - it's all about preventing the injected code from working. Going forward we can expect the same old cat and mouse game between hackers and platform holder to unfold, and it's not beyond the realms of possibility that sometime soon, Sony should be able to detect users of the tool and rightfully ban them from accessing PSN, just like the measures Microsoft continues to undertake annually against gamers who flash their DVD drives running copied software.

The complexity of Sony's security systems suggests that it will be able to keep one step ahead, however, there is nothing to stop people using the hack to prevent firmware upgrades from taking place. Indeed, the chip is said to protect the console from executing system updates. This obviously precludes PSN access, and in the fullness of time this approach will stop newer PS3 games from running as they will be reliant on software elements found only inside newer firmware. Bearing in mind that PS Samurai is retailing for upwards of $130, there's quite a strong possibility that this could well be the most expensive and short-lived hack ever made, and factoring in the simplicity of the hardware, the very high price seems almost reminiscent of a smash-and-grab raid on users intent on piracy regardless of what the purchase price. The manufacturers of PS Samurai are charging so high price since the time frame with regards to exclusivity and then the longevity of the hack itself is potentially really small.

Even so, the actual properties of the USB stick and how future-proof it's remain unknown. With mass-production of PS Samurai now in motion, and the first retail devices apparently set to ship prior to the month is up, Sony's engineers are doubtless gearing up for the battle to come.

How About A Little More Lost in Shadow…

You know what really sucks? Realizing that you can’t depend on other people. Don’t worry, I’m not going all emo on you; I’m not in danger of becoming a cutter or doing myself other bodily harm, like befriending a ginger. This isn’t about some childhood friend abandoning me in an hour of need. I’m talking about the sucky realization that, for the most part, you can’t depend on other people to do what they say. Let’s take contractors, for instance. I used to think was that unless you were Tim Taylor or Wilson, and you wanted to get some work done on your home, you had two routes you could take. You could either hire each individual person to do their one specific job, or you could hire a general contractor to deal with all the headaches and hiring for you. Well, when Mrs. Mike and I decided to redo our kitchen, we hired a GenCon; more specifically, we hired one that was recommended to us and that we had met several times before. We trusted that they wouldn’t ruin our shit. We were wrong, it’s been a total pain in the ass. In fact, it’s basically at the point where if I have to talk to them much more it’s going to be all cussing and yelling and shaking and crying, so I’m forcing myself to accept shoddy half-finished work instead. It’s stupid, right? I mean, how hard is it to make sure that the tile guys who took off a backdoor in order to cut it to fit in with the new flooring didn’t somehow mess up so bad that the door won’t even open anymore? And, if you’re the tile guys who cut said door, why would you put it back like that? Did you think I wouldn’t open my back door ever again?? What I’m trying to say is, if you’re in the Atlanta area, don’t use Callaway Homes to do any work you may need done.
Alright, sorry about that. I had to vent as that’s what I’ve been dealing with since the middle of last week. I feel like I’ve aged about 10 years in that time, which means I’m now almost 40. That fact was driven home today when I discovered something called the “Misquito Ringtone”. Apparently, only young’uns can hear certain pitches and my range ends at 14khz, which is for the 49-years-old and younger crowd. I wish I could look on the bright side and say that 29 is there, but I can’t hear past the 39 and younger setting. Yeah, apparently my ears are in their 40’s. Wow, this post actually is kinda emo. If I see a ginger later I’m freaking the eff out…
Before things go full cutter mode around here, let’s have some Wii news. Nothing like 450+ words into a post before the Wii is even mentioned. Maybe I should put the Wii stuff first and ramblings second? It shall be considered… Anyway, yesterday I posted the Japanese trailer for Lost in Shadow, the Wii-exclusive game from the creator of Final Fantasy. Well, today we have more of the game, and it looks freaking beautiful. Our dear friends at IGN have a nice little direct feed gameplay video that they put up, and I’m gonna share it with you guys. Lost in Shadow is set to launch “Q3 2010″; yeah, that means it should be here some time soon. Enjoy, and stay thirsty my friends.

Guitar Hero, DJ Hero DLC done after February

Activision confirms that downloadable content pipeline will dry up after this month.
Yesterday, Activision shocked the game industry by announcing it was disbanding its Guitar Hero business and not making any Hero games this year. However, during a post-earnings release conference call, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg appeared to say the flow of downloadable content for Guitar Hero games would continue.

February will see the last Guitar Hero and DJ Hero DLC, according to Activision.

Immediately after addressing the Guitar Hero situation, Hirshberg said, "What we'll do is focus our time and energies on marketing and supporting our strong catalog of titles and downloadable content, especially to new consumers, as the install base for hardware continues to grow."

However, now it appears Hirshberger was talking in a much more general sense, and not addressing the Guitar Hero franchise specifically. A FAQ on the official DJ Hero website now clearly states that, after February, all new DLC for both the DJ Hero and Guitar Hero franchises will cease:

Are you still going to make new DLC for Guitar/DJ Hero?
We will release the previously announced DLC track and mix packs for February, but--unfortunately--we will not be able to release new DLC packs beyond what we already have.

Attempts to contact Activision for further clarification were unsuccessful as of press time. However, the FAQ appears to leave little doubt that the Guitar Hero and DJ Hero DLC pipeline will soon dry up. For more on what may be the last Guitar Hero DLC, check out
GameSpot's coverage of the February Mega Pack, with metal-themed tunes from Children of Bodom, black Label Society, Marilyn Manson, and Firewind.

Dungeon Siege III launching May 31

Obsidian-developed action RPG arriving on 360, PS3, PC later this year; preorder incentives include free games on Steam, in-game items at retailers.
Obsidian Entertainment has been on a game-release bender over the past half year, having teamed with Sega on Alpha Protocol in June and Bethesda Softworks on Fallout: New Vegas in October. Now, the studio's next project has been given its marching orders, as Square Enix announced today that Dungeon Siege III will be released for the xbox 360, playstation 3, and PC on May 31. The game will be available in Europe on May 27.

Big sword? Check. Spaulders? Check. Cod piece? Check.

Along with announcing a release date, Square Enix also offered first word on preorder incentives for Dungeon Siege III. For PC gamers who pick up the game through Steam, Valve will include single-player versions of Dungeon Siege I and II free of charge. Best Buy, Amazon, and GameStop's preorder incentives grant customers in-game items, ranging from amulets to rings. Meanwhile, Wal-Mart prepurchasers will be offered a Dungeon Siege mini-comic and a Prima Games strategy guide.

The latest incarnation in the long-running Dungeon Siege franchise will again be set in the kingdom of Ehb, where the balance of power between rival factions has fallen apart. Players will take on the role of a member of the disgraced protectors of the land, known as the 10th Legion. With the kingdom tearing itself apart, the Legion is tasked with rebuilding its numbers and restoring peace.

Gamers will be able to experience the aforementioned story through either single-player action or drop-in, drop-out cooperative multiplayer for up to four. Dungeon Siege III also features four customizable player classes, and players will be able to recruit personality-rich companions to aid them on their journey.

Although Obsidian is lead developer on the game, the studio is receiving an assist from Gas Powered Games, which created the franchise. Square Enix went on to note that Gas Powered head Chris Taylor is serving in an advisory role on the project.

Battlefield 3 out fall 2011 on Xbox 360, PS3, PC

DICE's latest entry in shooter series out this year; sports single-player (with co-op) and online multiplayer; lets gamers wage 64-player battles, pilot jets.
Yesterday, Battlefield fans received a slice of bad news from DICE, when the developer said it had officially canceled PC releases of Bad Company 2's Onslaught and Battlefield 1943. Today, fans of the shooter series scored a win, with DICE formally announcing Battlefield 3.

Battlefield 3 will be released on the xbox 360, playstation 3, and PC during fall 2011. In addition to a standard version, the title will be available in a limited-edition iteration. DICE will share details on that version during the Game Developers Conference later this month.

Battlefield 3 scorches the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC later this year.

DICE also shared some new information on the shooter, saying that Battlefield 3 will sport both a single-player campaign and an online component, which can be played with up to 64 players (for the PC version only). Further, Battlefield 3 will support co-op play for its campaign and will let gamers pilot jets and go prone.

Additionally, Battlefield 3 will run on DICE's updated Frostbite 2 engine. The original Frostbite engine debuted in 2008's Battlefield: Bad Company and was used in Battlefield 1943, Medal of Honor, and most recently Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and its Vietnam expansion.

According to a product listing for Battlefield 3 at Swedish retailer
Webhallen, Battlefield 3 will thrust players into the boots of a US Marine, who will fight across the globe in cities like Paris, Tehran, and New York.

An official Battlefield 3 website is also now up and running with a selection of intel related to the new entry in the series.

Nokia, Microsoft announcing partnership next week, possibly involving Windows Phone 7?

As Nokia comes up on Capital Markets Day next Friday -- an event where the company has historically unveiled interesting things and launched important initiatives -- rumors are once again swirling that they're going to be announcing a major platform shift by way of a competitor. Both Android and windows Mobile have come up in the past on multiple occasions, owing in no small part to the fact that Nokia's had an outward appearance of spinning its platform wheels on the backs of S60 and Maemo for far, far too long, but so far, nothing's materialized. This time around, it's said that Microsoft will be the partner announced on the 11th -- and though Nokia's uptake of Windows Phone 7 would be the obvious strategic shift, it's important to note that these companies have actually partnered before with pretty trivial consequences for the market; it's entirely possible they could be ramping up to do that again, sharing apps and services between Windows Phone 7 and S60 / MeeGo. We doubt it, but it's within the realm of reason.

But turning our attention back to the major platform shift, there are a couple factors that add a little more credibility to the rumor this time. First off, the elephant in the room: recently-appointed CEO Stephen Elop comes from Microsoft on good terms and has clearly been given marching orders to take Nokia in a new, more profitable direction; the Symbian Foundation's gutting happened on Elop's watch, for example, and he just hinted a few days ago that joining an existing ecosystem could make sense. More importantly, though, we've got a trusted source of our own who's now saying that the tide has turned and this appears to be happening at Capital Markets Day -- and that one of Nokia's existing platforms will be dropped as a direct result. It's hard to pick which one that'd be: S60, though terribly out-of-date, is still wildly popular in Europe and emerging markets, while MeeGo is technically promising but has yet to make any impact in the market whatsoever. On the flipside, noted Microsoft pundit Mary Jo Foley doesn't put a lot of stock in this latest round of rumors.

So, here's the question: can Nokia become another Samsung, LG, or HTC, betting its hopes and dreams on its chops as a hardware manufacturer alone? Historically, Nokia has been defined as much (if not more) by its platforms than by its hardware, which lacks Samsung's capability for end-to-end in-house sourcing. Regardless of what happens next Friday, this should all make for a very interesting MWC indeed.Nokia, Microsoft announcing partnership next week, possibly involving Windows Phone 7? originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 04 Feb 2011 12:09:00 EDT. Tales of Graces F journeying to North America

Namco Bandai confirms latest installment in anime-infused action RPG series is "coming soon" to US on PS3.
Namco Bandai has already had a busy day following news this morning that it would be publishing From Software's Dark Souls in 2011 and Armored Core V in 2012. However, the publisher isn't stopping there, and this time it will be fans of Japanese role-playing games that should take note. Namco Bandai has updated its official Tales website to announce that Tales of Graces F is "coming soon" to North America on the PlayStation 3.

The quest for strength and wisdom is practically the national pastime in Japan.

Tales of Graces F takes place on Efinea, a planet dominated by three kingdoms competing for the right to rule. After losing a close friend, Asbel, the eldest son of a feudal lord, enlists in a knight's academy in his kingdom's capital to learn to better protect those he loves. Asbel's father subsequently dies, and Asbel then takes his place as a feudal lord, and the adventure begins.

Tales of Graces originally saw release on the Wii in Japan in December 2009. The game was followed by Tales of Graces F for the PlayStation 3, a game that sold more than 250,000 units in Japan within two weeks of its release in December 2010.

For more on Tales of Graces F, check out GameSpot's hands-on with the game from the 2010 Tokyo Game Show.

Agility Saietta unveiled, the decidedly unconventional electric sports bike

A new player has entered the electric motorcycle game, joining the likes of Brammo's Empulse but doing it with rather more... unconventional styling. It's the Agility Global Saietta, an all-electric sports bike that will come in two flavors: the 50 mile range Saietta S and the 100 mile Saietta R. The latter of the two will be quicker than the first, getting to 60 in under four seconds, whereas S riders will have to wait another tick of the stopwatch. Naturally that extra range and speed will cost you: £9,975 for the S and £13,975 for the R, figures that equate to roughly $16,200 and $22,650. Hefty sums, both, but nobody said being on the cutting edge of the humpbacked sport bike trend was going to be cheap. We weren't given any specific horsepower or weight figures, but we're told the power to weight ratio is 675hp per ton. You can make your own guesses about weight to try and get a firm power figure, but it certainly should be peppy enough.

At this point we don't know much about the bikes themselves beyond what you can see in the photos, which show a trellis frame cradling a sizeable battery pack. The swingarm is a combination of machined parts and pipes, rear suspension elevated to make room for the electric motor sitting just above the pivot point. Front suspension also shows an unconventional design, offset steering linkage and a single damper eschewing the traditional fork design found on your average (non-BMW) motorcycle. These images are, of course, just renders, but the bike has just made its word debut at the MCN London Motorcycle Show and we'll be bringing you some actual pictures as soon as we get them. As to when those who order the bikes will get theirs, we're told shipments begin in April.

DEAL: U.K. 3DS Best Pre-Order Prices

Here's a guide to getting the best deal in Great Britain.
Nintendo UK are advising that gamers pre-order the Nintendo 3DS at their favourite retailer with a deposit, as this will help with forecasting. They say that this means they can ensure that enough units are shipped to match demand, as if everyone tries to get a console last-minute, they may have shipped all of their stock, and so there will not be enough consoles in the initial supply. Deals on offer currently include:Game Gears - Blue and Black models for £194.99. However they do not appear to be taking active pre-orders any longer, instead there is an e-mail contact option for when there is more information.

SOCOM 4 deploys April 19

Zipper Interactive's tactical shooter will arrive in under three months with full playstation Move support.
At the 2010 Game Developers Conference, Sony showed off how the PlayStation Move would work with core games. One core game was shown, specifically SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs, the latest iteration of the popular tactical shooter series. The Zipper Interactive-developed game can be played normally with a DualShock 3 controller or with the Move controller and subcontroller for full motion control.

SOCOM 4 is gunning for an April 19 release date.

Now SOCOM 4 finally has a release date. Sony announced today that the game will ship on April 19 in North America, just over a year after it was first shown to the public. The game has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB and is exclusive to the PlayStation 3.

SOCOM 4 will be set in Southeast Asia after a revolution endangers a vital shipping lane similar to the Strait of Malacca. Players assume the role of the commander of a five-man squad of NATO commandos dispatched to prevent international trade from being disrupted. Their mission will only last six days, a time limit that Sony says will add urgency into the campaign.

As is a staple for the series, SOCOM 4 will have an extensive multiplayer component, allowing for teams of players to shoot it out in 32-player matches. Terrain types will include a hostile jungle and half-ruined cities.

Motorola Atrix 4G apparently priced at $150 by Costco, too

Never would we have guessed that third-party wireless retailers would be aiming to launch AT&T's powerhouse Atrix 4G for just $150 on contract -- $200 or $250, sure, but not $150. Alas, just a few hours after AmazonWireless' peep show, we're seeing an alleged leaked screen shot of Costco's inventory system showing the same blockbuster price. Now, bear in mind that AT&T itself will probably sell the phone for at least $50 more -- third parties usually have a second ETF on top of the carrier's that allows them to subsidize a little more heavily -- but it's a good sign regardless.Motorola Atrix 4G apparently priced at $150 by Costco, too originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 28 Jan 2011 11:16:00 EDT. Tomb Raider Trilogy bundles up March 22

PS3-exclusive Lara Croft compilation of Underworld, Anniversary, Legend priced at $40.
Fans of the crafty Lara Croft won't get their hands on the adventurer's recently announced origin story for some time, but those wishing to relive the older stories can pick up a remastered collection in just two months.

The Lara Croft three-pack hits in March.

Sony has confirmed that the Tomb Raider Trilogy will drop on March 22 (as suggested by an Amazon product listing), exclusively on the playstation 3. The bundle will include Tomb Raider: Underworld, as well as high-definition remastered versions of Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Tomb Raider: Legend. Additionally, the Tomb Raider Trilogy will include (also as suggested) Lara Croft and Viking Thrall avatars for use in Sony's PlayStation Home, as well as a static Lara Croft-minded theme for the PS3.

The pack will join the trilogy ranks of the Sly Collection, which was released on November 9, and the Splinter Cell trilogy, also due out March 22. There's also still the possibility of a Prince of Persia three-pack, although the likely games in that rumored compilation--the Sands of Time trilogy--have already been released as stand-alone downloadable titles on the PlayStation Network.

For more on the Tomb Raider Trilogy's bundled titles, check out GameSpot's reviews of Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, and Tomb Raider: Underworld.

Dish Network remote access app extends its long arm to Android tablets

Dish Network is still on a mission to make sure that you get your TV Everywhere, and as of today, that means your Android tablet. We reported in November that the provider was bringing its Dish remote access app to Android, opening up the world of paid-for TV to even more smartphones. As with the smartphone app, Android tablet users will have to have a Sling-enabled device, like a Sling Adapter, to access their hard earned programming, and as with the smartphone, the tablet app is free. The Dish Network app's got all the same functionality as its predecessor: browse and search options, DVR scheduling/management, and a remote control function. So it's basically the same beast, but we're definitely still impressed.Dish Network remote access app extends its long arm to Android tablets originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 07 Jan 2011 01:40:00 EDT. BLOG: The Glitch Gremlin Visits Super Mario All-Stars Wii!

With video!
The other night while I was playing Super Mario All-Stars Wii (you can read my review here), I noticed that something was going on in Super Mario Bros. 2.
